Who is Wren Holloway?

Wren Holloway is the editorial pen name of How To Grow Mushrooms, a small independent publisher writing for home and hobby growers. Wren is not one person with a résumé: the name lets the site speak with one consistent voice, and we would rather say so plainly than invent a biography.

What we publish

Practical guides to growing gourmet mushrooms at home (oyster, lion’s mane, shiitake, king oyster, wine cap and others), and to how a few medicinal-cultivation species such as reishi are grown. We explain grow kits, spawn, substrate and logs, and the conditions each stage needs: temperature, humidity, light and fresh air, with the source for every figure. Where our sources don’t state something, the page leaves it blank rather than guessing.

What we don’t cover

This is a site about cultivation, and it has firm limits. We don’t cover psilocybin or other psychoactive mushrooms. We don’t help identify wild mushrooms or give foraging advice. We don’t make health or medical claims for any species. Read the full editorial policy.

We don’t sell spawn or kits, and nobody pays to appear in or change a guide.
